Holy Crap! it's U-Day!!!
Jun. 29th, 2005 07:24 amWhat's U-Day you ask? Well it's that special day for any parent, when they can happily say that their child is changing over from the dreaded diaper to underwear! Now it's day one, and we are prepared (we think ;-) ) for the onslaught of additional laundry.. but for now at least, the excitement is palpable. Building up to today has included:
1) A total of 2.5 years of diapers.
2) Dealing with the past 8-10 months frustration of up & down interest in toilet training (yes, toilet TRAINING, don't get me started on the "PC"-ness of Toilet "teaching", heh! )
3) The past month convincing him (translation: when he was FINALLY ready) into solidly doing the "potty thing", with MUCH encouragement to going over to underwear.
So now we come to U-Day!
So what is the first thing he does at school? Thankfully he didn't make a mess. He practically drops his shorts to proudly show off his undies to his teacher. :-D I assume this is a fairly normal occurence, as the teacher isn't phased one bit, while i'm trying not to laugh my way out of a purely innocent, but potentially embarrassing act.
Ahh well, the joys of parenthood!!
